Recently we caught up over coffee with Jamie Smith, a Vancouver-based artist who works with clients to create custom art pieces for their wedding day. We loved Jamie’s passion and are so excited to share a bit about her unique work!
A mixed media artist who has exhibited both locally and internationally, Jamie works with couples to create keepsake pieces of art that incorporate colours, patterns, and/or words that reflect a couple’s personal style and elements of their wedding day. Taking this information, Jamie uses custom stencils, patterns and image transfers to create multi-layered paintings full of beautiful, sentimental details. What an amazing gift to have your wedding vows or lyrics to your wedding song highlighted in your home! Jamie is also able to create large-scale paintings that can be incorporated into your decor for the ceremony and reception – a backdrop at your alter or a beautiful feature piece behind your head table.
Jamie’s latest art project and upcoming art show is called “Confessions”. She has gathered over 75 anonymous confessions through her website and will be showcasing these in her series of paintings this coming Friday at the Beaumont Art Gallery. This is a one-night show and will feature Jamie’s paintings and her furniture designs. The show opens at 7pm and will be open to the public until midnight; admission is free.
