Feature Vendor: Kathryn Bass Bridal

This season many of our brides went all out in the gown department and often opted for a second dress for their day, if not more!

Recently we caught up with local dress designer Kathryn Bass of Kathryn Bass Bridal and discussed this growing trend.  Kathryn’s custom couture creations are handmade using high quality fabrics and renowned techniques.  After your one on one consultation to discuss your vision, you’ll meet to go over options and discuss looks, fabrics, and, from there, fittings to perfect the look leading up to the big day.

Some of her most recent dresses are those that allow bride’s to transform their look from ceremony to reception in one dress. We love that these convertible dresses give brides the option to go from soft and romantic to fun and flirty.  Be sure to plan with your hair and make-up stylists to change your look slightly too – letting your hair down, adding a gorgeous red lip or a darker eye will help complete the transformation!

Your wedding dress is one of the most important and special outfits you’ll ever wear in your life – why not make it custom and perfect for you?!

Real Wedding: Candace + Wayne

Candace and Wayne’s June wedding was fun yet elegant and full of personal touches.  Coming from Calgary to celebrate their wedding day, Candace incorporated a little bit of country flare by throwing on her cowboy boots & hat for the reception and Wayne, a cowboy hat with his chucks.

Check out a few of the photos from their day.  We particularly love the stunning shots of the Candace’s beautiful dress during tea ceremony in the Gibson Suite at the Club.

The Food & Drink: Guests were welcomed with champagne cocktails before dining on an elegant four course dinner that included Duck Confit & Liver Terrine, Spring Greens, Miso Maple Sablefish, and Vanilla Creme Catalonia.

The Entertainment:  Syrinx String Quartet provided beautiful music for the couple’s ‘I Do’s” in the Metropolitan Ballroom during their early afternoon ceremony. When guests returned for the reception, DJ Brian Panchuk provided the music and kept the party going well into the evening.

The Decor: Briar Johnston of Epic Events helped Candace & Wayne with their planning and decor.  The colour scheme was white, peach, fuchsia, and silver. Briar incorporated this with silver charger plates and table runners, peach petals & chair sashes, and tons of beautiful candles to create a warm romantic feel in the ballroom.

Check out their Same Day Edit from Rach & Raff too.

Feature Vendor: Papier by Judy

Your wedding invite is one of the most important pieces of stationary – it is the first thing your guests see and it sets the tone for the entire event.  As such, your invite should reflect not only your theme and colours but it should represent the style of your celebration and your personal story.

We met Judy from Papier when we worked together on a WedLuxe styled shoot this past Spring.  Immediately we were impressed with her gorgeous work.  Judy’s passion for what she does shines through in her attention to detail and eye for design evident in her unique, hand-crafted products. Her book style invitations are made with fine papers, fabrics and rich embellishments like swarovski crystal elements, metallic foils, ribbons or crystal buckles. Made of durable materials, the creations are meant to be keepsakes for years to come.  And, to ensure your theme is carried throughout your event, all of her collections can be packaged with matching save the dates, menus, programs, place cards, etc.

With the help of Judy, we’ve put together a photo collection of just a few of our favourite pieces from her inventory of options.  We particularly love the keepsake box filled with delectable macarons (did we mention our Pastry Chef makes amazing sweets?!). What a perfect way to share a little bit of what is in store for the event!

We are so very excited to announce that we are working with Papier by Judy to create the beautiful invitations for this year’s Hush Wedding Soiree taking place March 8, 2014. Stay tuned for more details!

Real Wedding: Joanne + Pat

Joanne & Pat’s June wedding at the Club was full of gorgeous little details, all recently featured on Style Me Pretty. It was so much fun getting to work with Joanne and Pat and getting to know the family who played a huge role in making their day an extra special one.  Joanne’s sister Nicole just so happens to be a seasoned wedding planner and stylist, her mom a make-up artist, and Nicole’s fiancé Royce a talented photographer!

The Food & Drink: Following an afternoon ceremony at Hycroft Manor, guests arrived at the Club for an evening reception and mingled on the outdoor terrace while enjoying the couple’s signature cocktails – bourbon sours and sparkling punch.  Buffet dinner included an assortment of fresh salads, West-coast inspired seafood dishes and a selection of antipasto. The cake, baked fresh by the Club’s pastry Chef, was a two tier gluten-free red velvet with cream cheese icing.

The Decor: A colour scheme of silver, blush and white create a soft, elegant space for their reception.  Guest tables were dressed with white linens, mercury votives, and pink and white centerpieces of hydrangeas and peonies.  Foiled seating cards hung with ribbon from each chair and double sided thank-you cards with bride & groom fill-in-the-blanks at each place setting served as the guest book.  Gorgeous lace table cloths covered the cocktail tables and the signature drinks were listed on custom bar signage.  Vintage elements, such as mirrors, a working typewriter, and suitcases filled with homemade popcorn to take home, helped complete the look.

Feature Vendor: Jennifer Williams Boudoir

One quick browse through Jennifer Williams’ work and you understand what sets her apart from other boudoir studios out there.  Her editorial-style photos are sexy, feminine and edgy all at once.  That said, don’t let the magazine worthy shots let you believe the studio experience will be intimidating nor that you have to look like a Victoria Secret runway model to do it.  While we understand that most people are ambivalent about the thought of putting on lingerie (and in front of a camera at that!), we can honestly say, from experience, that you’ll walk in a little nervous and strut out feeling like a million dollars!

Their approach to the boudoir experience is second to none – they are all about helping women feel amazing and you feel it from the moment you begin working with them. After booking you are provided with detailed guidance about what to expect, how to prepare and how to style your outfits for the shoot. On arrival at their gorgeous Yaletown studio you’ll be handed a glass of bubbles (every good experience starts with bubbles in our opinion) and the uber talented Kelly Trerise styles your hair and make-up.  While the first few shots are admittedly a little nerve wracking, Kelly and Jennifer are so much fun to be with that it feels like you’re among friends almost instantly.  Jennifer’s expert guidance throughout the process also helps to ensure you look and feel fabulous.

Boudoir photography sessions currently start at $600, which includes professional makeup, hairstyling and a one hour shoot. Digital files, albums and enlargements are available for purchase separately.  Alternatively, they have designed some fabulous packages for a more personalized experience that include more shooting time, beautiful custom albums and digital files.

While a collection of beautiful boudoir photos is undoubtedly a gift your husband-to-be will not soon forget,  we know the experience alone will be a fabulous gift to yourself as well!
